Sharing my Art - The Creative Journey begins …..
I came to art later in life, during a period of profound personal change. After the loss of my wife, creating became a way to process grief, alleviate stress, and find moments of calm and meaning. What began as a quiet refuge gradually grew into a vital form of expression — and ultimately, a creative practice that continues to shape how I see and experience the world. It’s all about the message, the true life emotions and edgy cultural comment.
My work explores the intersection of vibrant colour, expressive form, and emotional narrative. I am drawn to bold palettes and dynamic compositions, often blending abstraction with recognisable figures or scenes. Through energetic brushwork and a willingness to experiment with texture, I aim to convey movement and vitality — whether depicting a bustling city, a whimsical character, a surreal landscape, or an emotionally driven story.
At the heart of my work is a fascination with how colour and form evoke feeling and spark curiosity. I am inspired by contrast: the interplay between light and shadow, the tension between realism and abstraction, and the dialogue between solitude and connection. My influences range from urban environments and the natural world to Aboriginal art, and I often incorporate elements that invite viewers to bring their own interpretations and stories to the work.
My process is intuitive and layered. Each piece develops through a balance of planned structure and spontaneous mark-making, allowing the painting to evolve organically. It is in these moments of discovery — when the work reveals something unexpected — that I find the greatest meaning as an artist. I am happiest when listening to someone telling me what a piece of art means to them.
Art continues to be both a personal anchor and a way to connect with others. Through this work, I hope to offer pieces that resonate emotionally, encourage reflection, and create space for shared human experience.
