Behind the Scenes: How one Painting Comes to Life
This painting began with the energy of live music — the kind that stays with you long after the final note fades. Inspired by Robbie Williams’ performance at Bath Crescent, I wanted to capture not just the sound, but the movement and atmosphere of the moment.
The black and white base represents the grounding presence of the backing singers and band, anchoring the composition. Over this, cool blues and fresh watermelon tones emerged, echoing the vibrancy and shared excitement of the crowd. These colours move fluidly across the surface, reflecting the rhythm and flow of live sound.
A smooth resin finish was added to enhance this sense of movement, allowing the painting to feel almost liquid — as though the music itself is still in motion. Accents of gold appear throughout the piece, symbolising the richness of voice and lyric, moments that rise above the noise and linger.
Occasionally, jagged textures break through the surface. These interruptions invite touch and closer inspection, mirroring the raw, unexpected elements of a live performance.
This work is about more than music. It’s about immersion — how sound, movement, and emotion come together in a shared experience, and how that energy can live on through colour and form.
